DESIGN THESIS

My thesis was focused on disease awareness and education. In this case: Knowing the warning signs of diabetes, before it’s too late. My strategy was to use a familiar image out of context to create a direct message. A simple gingerbread man "missing" a limb — to engage viewers before revealing the message — that diabetes maim & can kill. The project involved research and data collection prior to designing graphics to ensure effective communication of the message.

The installation in the Burns Fine Arts gallery involved an infographic poster and artistic visual display. The title "Don't Sugarcoat Diabetes" was created in foam core with sprinkle decoration. In addition to the campaign, I brought in processed foods and their sugar content illustrated by sugar cubes.
